SLOLAF Internship Program
Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 internships have been selected.
Spring 2027 applications open October 1, 2026.
Each academic term SLOLAF hosts a student intern on our legal team. Interns should be in their second year of college or beyond at the time of the internship and have an interest in law for their career aspirations. Eligible candidates should have strong written and oral communication, organizational skills, and interest assisting underserved populations.
The internship will be in the SLOLAF main office in San Luis Obispo. Interns commit to working 12 hours a week for 10 weeks. The internship can be for college credit or on the student's own time. Interns shadow attorneys and work independently, sit in on phone calls, mediations, court proceedings, and trainings. Additional activities include conducting research, drafting research memos, drafting materials for self-represented litigants, reviewing and summarizing case documents, interviewing clients for relevant information, and communicating with clients to obtain requested records, etc. This is an excellent opportunity for students seeking hands-on experience and who are committed to supporting our local community.
